Palmyra: Historic temple destroyed

Palmyra was an old city in the Syrian desert. Palmyra was also the capital of Palmyra’s Empire. It was added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1980 by Unesco.

On 18th August in 2015, Palmyra's retired antiquities chief al-Asaad was beheaded by ISIL after being tortured for a month to get information about the city and its treasures, but al-Asaad refused to give any information to his captors. The jihadists destroyed the temple of Baal on 23 August 2015 according to Abdulkarim and activists, but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the destruction took place one month earlier.

In my opinion the jihadist are very dangerous people, because they kill a lot of people and also destroy historic monuments. I think that nobody is sure about the jihadists attack, although most of the attacks are in Syria, Palestine, etc…
